I am a photographer based in Portland, Oregon. I use S E E N as a place to display the results of attempting to “see” when making photographs. For me, seeing involves a deliberate attempt to become hyper-aware of my surroundings while trying to remain free from preconception or judgment as to what subjects are or are not proper subjects of photography. This is not particularly easy to do considering our mind naturally resorts to preconception and judgment all the time without us even being aware that this is happening. It takes real work to get yourself into a proper state of “seeing” and if you work too hard at it, you’ll never get there. Its a bit tricky. But the results can be very satisfying.
Thanks for stopping by and viewing.
